Choosing Your First Pokemon
When you first fill out a profile, the choice of initial Pokemon can affect you a great deal. As with many other sites, there are limitations to the experience and number of Pokemon you can obtain, often throughout your site stay as well. But in the initial profile creation, these are guidelines to keep in mind.
1.) You don't have to choose a Pokemon at the beginning if you don't want to. At any time, trainers without any Pokemon may request to borrow a staff member's Pokemon to capture their own. The rental Pokemon must be returned once your first Pokemon is caught, and is only limited by your luck with what you encounter. You may keep searching with the Pokemon until you find one that you like, and there are no level or evolution limits as long as you manage to capture it. (No egg moves however.) So feel free to go through your studies for a time and RP without a Pokemon if you choose.
2.) If you choose to have Pokemon right off the bat, you can have a maximum of two. Trainers who only choose one Pokemon have immediate access to a key item. (Non-legendary.)
3.) If you choose two Pokemon to start, the total of their combined levels cannot exceed 25, and 15 is the highest level one of the Pokemon may have. With one Pokemon, the highest level you may obtain is 30.
4.) If you would like a Pokemon to have an egg move from the beginning, subtract ten levels from it. If you would like a tutored move, move learned at a later level, or a move restricted to a particular evolution line, subtract 5 levels. The Pokemon still has to be capable of learning the move in order for it to be learned.
If the cost of the moves you want brings your Pokemon's level down to zero, the Pokemon will arrive with your trainer as an egg. So for example, if a Pokemon using 15 of your allocated levels comes in with one tutored move and one egg move, the cost equaling 15, it would be an egg.
5.) If you want a Shiny Pokemon, you can only choose one of your Pokemon to be shiny and its maximum level is 15 before applying move costs.

Special Conditions
- Standard Egg Entry: If you choose only a normal egg without extra moves upon entry, your character will be allowed an extra course to study for free, two key item or normal item access at the beginning, and single-use rental capture assistance in any area.
- Custom Sprites: For those who wish to use custom sprites, you may apply them to your Pokemon at will. However, these Pokemon do not get the +5 base stat increase to all stats or unique move sets like their shiny counterparts may possess.
- For those who wish to have a background story with a Pokemon who's experience exceeds these requirements: The Pokemon will be transferred to school management. You will be provided with a rental Pokemon to raise in exchange for each traded in. Your Pokemon may still be visited at the Ranch, though they may not be called upon for use, and they will still take up your storage slots. If you have multiple Pokemon with this condition applied, they will appear at the ranch when you have an open slot to take them in. When you have obtained all of your badges and obtain an expert rank job, you may return the rental Pokemon and reclaim yours with a maximum level of 70 for a single Pokemon, 50 for multiple Pokemon with a combined total of 100. (Limit 4 Pokemon in all.)
The level and condition of the rental Pokemon upon their return determines how many Egg and Tutored moves your Pokemon may possess, level costs still being applied. If you have multiple Pokemon under this condition, no egg moves or shiny traits may be applied.
