Aven took a punch to the ribs, he thought he could feel a few crack. Jack was too strong for him... But he was slow, far too slow to keep up with Aven when he wasn't wearing his weights. Speed was how Aven would win this fight, if it came to having to win that is. He didn't want it to have to go that far. A win in his book would be convincing Jack not to fight, or not to finish the fight in the first place. An alarm blared, someone was too close. Aven made the training clone of Jack he had created disappear. What he saw through the window surprised him, he saw the spitting image of Des... Aven looked around his training room, it was spotless despite of the weeks of training he had done in the renovated house. Avenue A proved to be useful, Aven and Lucario had rebuild a house. Aven used his enchantment powers to hide the building, then again enchanted it. Making it bigger on the inside than the outside. Making it nearly indestructible, and making it sound an alarm when someone other than Lucario got too close. Lucario was asleep in the next room. Aven opened the door and slipped out jumping to the ruin next door and sitting on the roof.

| Ayumi, with her unwanted, unneeded growth spurt was trying desperately to avoid all possible human contact. She was dressed... not altogether appropriately, but good enough. She looked even more like her foster mother, now and she bounced down Avenue A with surprising and altogether amusing energy. Though underneath that energy was a quiet understanding of the human heart and all it's emotions and she would always use that to her advantage; as best she could.
She was humming a low tune, traditionally sung by a low voice when.. "****!! What the hell was that?!"
It was a flare of quick, efficient magic before it settled on something like a heavy blanket, curling around and creating a second skin on the.. building? Ayumi knew enough about magic; her mother being a dark witch and she'd been gifted with a sensory power, so she could see the silver mist of magic coiling and stretching. Her eyes widened and she froze just infront of the...building... And stood deadly still, lithe and graceful as she waited for the unstable magic to calm.
"Well, well. I'm up for a game of cat and mouse if you are.."
She might have talked to herself; but it was just for her own entertainment. She slowly waded her way towards the front of the building, her hands searching calmly for a doorknob. It was here; she knew it was. She could feel it. |

"I wouldn't if I were you." Aven's voice boomed everywhere and no where at the same time, "What you think you see, and what you see are rarely one and the same." It was true enough, when Aven hid something, he hid it in layers. "Guess wrong, and it could have consequences." That part was a lie, this girl meant Aven no harm. He had enchanted it to harm those who meant him harm only. "Now how does this sound? I'll point you in the right direction, and then invite you in, if you answer my questions."Aven considered tracing rocks and throwing them, but thought better of it. She could sense magic, that was the only way she could have found his house. Instead he decided to do this the fun way, Aven stood and removed his weights. He could summon them later. He dropped a rock on the ground, then disappeared, appearing again behind another building. He dropped another rock and appeared again on a third building, dropping yet another rock before appearing again inside his house. He did this all in a span of two seconds. "Question one. What is the daughter of the Ace of Clubs doing here?"

"Well, Prick, she was trying to avoid all human contact. Obviously that didn't work." She snarled the words with a strangely sweet tone to it. Her blue eyes narrowed and she grasped the doorknob, twisting it. "My ma taught me a lot about sensory magic. This won't hurt me." She smiled inwardly, seemingly proud of what she knew. Ayumi had needed somethign to distract her and this was just the thing she needed; a good argument and a bit of magic was always a way to take her mind off of things. She knew that well enough from arguments with Des.

Aven couldn't help but chuckle, "Well, she taught you well. You're very close. Take about three steps to your left." The first door vanished, and the real door came into view. "I the King of Hearts, William Aven invite you into my home." It was the only way anyone other than Lucario, or a member of the Shuffle Alliance could enter his house. He summoned his weights back to himself, healing his cracked ribs at the same time. "Would you like something to drink? Or eat?" Aven asked politely, waiting for the door to open.

You will fly and you will crawl, God knows even angels fall... No such thing as you've lost it all, God knows even angels fall...
Ruins; oh how Desiree Mahr hated them. And it only took a few deep breaths before the image of her daughter disappeared and transitioned into her. She had been looking for Aven and it was truly only luck that she had found him. She had simply been practicing her shape shifting when she had come across the magic. It was entertaining, pretending to be her daughter. But because her and her daughter looked so much alike, there wasn't really much power she had to put into the transitioning. "Thankyou, Aven." She teased him lightly as she slid down to the real door, pulling it open. "Do you know how hard you are to find?" She smiled brightly, a mask of innocence as she closed the door behind her. "Have you been hiding out here? No wonder I didn't find you, I hate ruins..." She mused lightly, shaking her head at the offer of the water and drink.

Aven smiled as Lucario stepped into the room, "Yes Des, I am hiding here." He said, sensing her Aura for the first time. He shook his head and sighed, "Demons from my past are surfacing Des... His name is Jack Edwards, and during my three years of training before I met Namine I accidentally killed his entire team." Aven paused and turned away, walking the length of the gym/ living room and returning. "I deflected the bullets fired by one when I wasn't ready and one killed him. I dodged a bullet from one, and two died. There was another I didn't notice and they both fired at my head, when I jumped to the roof it killed them. Another I put in a sleeper hold and a blood vessel burst in his brain. Jack was the only one that survived... Those were the first lives I took."Aven walked the length of the room again, creating three arm chairs near Desiree. He continued pacing, "He's here and ready to kill me. I'm hiding here training, in a few days I'll have Lucario send the invitation for our fight. In another ten days I intend to fight Jack. What happens after that I don't know."Aven sighed and turned to face Desiree again, I do however know two things. One: I am going to fake my death to gain a small measure of peace. And two: I need a favor from you... I want you to teach me more magic." He walked over to one of the chairs and finally sat down. It was the first time in a few days he had willingly stopped moving.
